Does anyone have any experiences with anchoring a particular state or disposition, such as a state where psychic powers are enhanced?

I know that in order to create an anchor, you need to get into the desired state and utter a word, execute a motion, etc. to create an anchor so that you can later access the state immediately, but I was wondering if an anchor needs to be continuously reinforced. For example, let's say that you want to anchor the theta state, so you get into the theta state and touch your middle finger and thumb together as an anchor. After doing this for a couple of repetitions, will your subconscious permanently remember the anchor, or do you have to occasionally get into the theta state and anchor it again so that the anchor will not be lost or lose its effects?

Once an anchor is in place, you just need to USE it regularly to keep it 'alive'. If you don't use it for quite some time, it'll die and you'll need to redo the anchor.

Ok, that makes sense, but I've also heard about people who used an anchor too frequently and ended up getting stuck in the anchored state... So how do you find the right balance?

Honestly, I don't know, although I can guess that it's down to experimentation.

I used to have an 'anchor' where I'd have a panic attack at bedtime. It was due to the fact that I was in bed that I had my first panic attack. This is more rightly called a trigger. A trigger is an anchor that has been made unintentionally.

My sister had a trigger where she'd get really depressed at being asked to come home for Christmas because she associated Christmas at home with bad things.

I can see that an anchor being used too often could turn into a trigger.

Triggers can be easily broken in a few ways, that I know of. The most powerful is NAC (Neuro Associative Conditioning), developed by Anthony Robbins.

Another way is to be acutely aware of your anchor, and notice as soon as it begins to run automatically. Then you could just stop using it and it will die.

I'm sure Sorcerer or one of the other site veteran's can provide you with more insight.
