i happen to like NCIS, so i got the idea of making a list of "Gibbs rules", but instead of "Gibbs rules" i decided to call it "Life rules" - as in, a code of conduct for the new age, if you catch my drift  you can think of it as a Samurai Code or Peaceful Warrior code or whatever takes your fancy 
here's what i have so far
always stick to your principles
never take anything too seriously
only ever apologise if you've violated your own principles
always be prepared to revise your principles when presented with new
information
always keep your word
honesty is always the best policy
never remain silent just to appease someone else
believe nothing with rigid conviction
truth is whatever works
always be open to new possibilities
respect is earned, not given
disrespect is earned, not given
never succumb to fear - work through it
the only power any thought has, is the power you give it
you reap what you sow
never interfere with the free will of another unless you're prepared
to accept any consequences that arise
always be grateful for what you have
change is the only constant - embrace it
the best way to keep a secret is to keep it to yourself
if you're not getting the results you desire, try something else
always be 100% responsible for what happens in your life
always be prepared to learn and grow
never make excuses
if you ever think you can't keep going ... keep going!
in every adversity lies the seed of an even greater oppurtunity
