Hello friends,
In many places it has been said that the normally a human being is able to use only 8-10% of its brain capacity.
On what basis this figure has been arrived at.
If this is really true, then how can one try to increase its usage of brain capacity. What exercises, techniques, experiments can be suggested to increase the brain power.
With regards

| we'll, think of it as ram. Do you really want your ram use running up to 35-40 %? It slows down your computer. I think the best thing is just to not attempt something like. Instead, simply let the answers come to you. Normally those are the ones that need to be answered. |

| There is a large area of the brain which is not used and it's scientifically proven. My belief is that these areas which are currently dormant are related to our psychic and spiritual abilities and memories. These areas will start working when you start awakening psychically and spiritually. For instance, the third eye is the frontal lobes and enlightenment is attained when the pineal gland is fully activated. |

er, the problem with this is that they probably have tested people with psychic abilities and what not. And it still turns out that there not even using those parts of the brain. |

| Have they tested any enlightened people? Mind you, half the people who believe they are enlightened aren't. |

technicaly, some believe enlightenment is only reached in death. Some people believe that people recieve little enlightenments their entire lives. Some say no one is ever really enlightened. |

Well I would assume a large percentage of the brain is redundant. There are many cases of people who have lost parts of thier brain due to one cause or another that caused "damage" and yet the brain is able to regenerate, or over come these defects by creating new neural pathways.
Though I think the idea that we only use 8-9 % is also an idea from a limited perspective. Just because we can only see or tell through our own technology 8 to 9 % of activity doesn't mean thats all the activity.

Hi,
My question is that are there reference available on the net on the experiments which proved the utilization of 8-9% of brain capacity.

Heh, sometimes with my customers I wonder if that estimate is a little too high....
Though then again I do tech support for a living....

| I want to try such things, I recommend you to read tons of books of Sylva Ultramind and Gimntastics for Your brain or something like that. I have those 2 books, in the Sylva one, you will find an easy technique to improve you memory and use more of your brain`s capacity. The other book has the same effect. I haven`t read them, though.lol.. |

Hi,
My first curiosity is that how scientists or pschiatrists have come to the estimate of 8-9%.
What procedures they employed to measure this figure. Once this is known then only we can think of finding out ways of increasing brain power.
Sylva's mind control technique works on mostly on mind. Sylva's technique like any other meditation practice might be useful in imroving intutive powers.
What I wish to know is how to increase the utilization of the basic raw power of the brain.

So what do you really want? What would you do with the extra 92% brain power even assuming it exists and assuming you could 'harness' it?
You must have a belief/fantasy about what's possible, otherwise you wouldn't be trying! If we knew what the goal was, then perhaps we could offer even more useful feedback.
I think it's nice to have some resources 'spare'. I wonder what the breaking point of human bone is. Chances are we only utilise 8% of it's strength to live a happy life. I don't see many people complaining about under utilisation of their bone strength! Having resources in excess allows us not to live life like it's an emergency. It's like having an extra $50,000 in the bank that you not using for anything. Life's a whole lot different when you have only $5.
Also, (i'm really guessing here) they were probably using a brain scan while asking patients to do certain exercises. Perhaps the exercises weren't demanding enough. Something like rock-climbing, being in a street-fight, land-mine disposal or making love would probably use more brain connections than sitting in a lab guessing Zener cards or whatever it was they tested for.
For me the questions is not "how can we get 'more' brain-power?", but "what can we do with the brain-power we've already got?" |
