I mentioned this as a joke earlier, but somebody seriously commented on it so I'm quite interested.

To be honest I'm interested in anything related to it. Whether it's turning lead into gold, changing matter into different types of things, or something else entirely.

Alchemy is essentially the process of breaking down, refining or purifying, then reconstructing a substance. According to most alchemical teachings, there are three essentials that make up all of existence. These are the salt, the sulfur, and the mercury. This refers not to sodium chloride, brimstone and quicksilver, but to the mind, body, and soul respectively. If you are just getting into alchemy, the experiment most people begin with is a grapevine. Take a piece of a grapevine, and roughly chop it. Now, boil it for about 20 minute. Now, you will be left with a foul smelling pulp, and water. Strain out the pulp, then boil the water. Eventually, you will be left with alcohol, oil, and salt. If you take these substances and put them together, you are left with an object with all the properties of the original grapevine. If you've seen the anime Fullmetal Alchemist (the alchemist I met claimed that the show captured true alchemy almsot perfectly), then you know that sacred geometry plays a large role in alchemy. This is because the greatest barrier most people face is the language barrier. While words change from place to place, symbols are universal. The symbol most often used in alchemy is a snake being crucified. This exemplifies what alchemy is all about. Taking a snake, a dangerous being, and by crucifying it like jesus, taking something harmful to us, and turning into something that can help us. This is also why turning lead to gold is such a famous example. Gold is an almost perfect substance. There are only two ways to break it down, and both are complex and temporary. Lead, on the other hand, is easily broken down. If lead is heated to a high temperature, it becomes white. When heated even more, it turns a shade of yellow. Turning lead to gold was meant to signify that something easily broken and corrupted could be taken and resharpen into something pure. I managed to contact Ken Jaggard, the man who ran the alchemy panel, and he might join and make a few posts soon.

The thing is that Alchemy does exist and i agree with them that Full metal Alchemist is a Good representation sort of any way truthful alchemy is a type of chemistry that can be use to influence or change substances into something else on another note you've probably heard of the philosophers stone thats able to make iron into gold that legend has been around since the Ancient Egyptian times its been attempted but none have been able to created if you wanna learn more about Alchemy look up some books on it or if you cant find any look under High Magic.
