My first thoughts are you can dowse weather and body cycles because you have a physical and emotional connection to them . Right now your subconscious has a feedback connection to every cell in your body , and far away weather patterns can affect local patterns . As for the trip to Europe that was a connection to your future self , another physical and emotional connection .

As a calibration and practice exercise , separate the cards into two piles , a red pile and a black pile . Then make psi balls and project them into the color you respond more to . See my thread on projecting energy for a way to do psiballs . For you the psiballs may take the shape of pellets or darts or tentacles or even radiating the colored pile or each individual card . Do what works for you . Then dowse for color .

As another practice exercise , dowse events that might happen to friends or family members .

Sweetdreams , there may be times when you want to disconnect when dowsing . With practice you will manage your connection , but the early stages of development , you need to calibrate . If you didnt know what a zebra was , and somebody told you to go find one , what would you do ???
So start off with things you are familiar with .

For another exercise do some dowsing on things that interest you . For instance if you love The Grammys , sense who will win or lose in the categories . If you are a movie buff , do The Oscars . In this exercise the outcomes have to be random and determined like the vice presidential candidates for 2012 .
