I've been trying to astral project for a while now with no luck. But I'm not giving up that easily 
Last night I tried to astral project. There was a moment when my head started throbbing followed by my body growing immensely light and my heart starting to race and I was experiencing little vibrations as well. So I rolled over but alas I had not projected.
I do have a question though...
Suppose I have a fan running in the room with quite distinct noise. If I astral project, will I be able to hear it then too? If not, then it might help to take a cue from that and roll over when everything goes silent.

Hi,
There is no true or original method of astral projection...
I projected only once, and i actually slid a few feet below my bed instead of popping up straight in the air...
it was the fear that got me back in the body ofcourse,,the usual heart pounding extremely fast... 
your body feeling light is definitely one symptom...
try to have a control on your heart "racing"...
dont give up, and dont wait for it too impatiently...it will happen when you let go,, trust me
enjoy the process as well rather than focussing too much on the goal..you could be possible missing out on something more interesting to learn
