Many times when I try to empty my mind I'll go into a state where I think I'm dreaming and I'll suddenly jolt to conscience awareness. It feels like when your asleep and something unknown wakes you up. I can never remember what I see in the time I'm out.
Any ideas on what state I'm in exactly and why I get stuck?
Thanks,
Jules

I'm no expert but I believe its alpha state. As you go deeper you'll see a hell of a lot of lights, visions. etc. I can go into alpha, and beta, but for some reason my own fears are preventing me from going into theta state.

I don't think that's alpha.
In alpha you're relaxed, but aware of your surroundings, and you remember what you are thinking.
I think the state you describe is theta

Theta state is when you sleep and it is hard to get there without falling asleep. Theta is when you like dreaming-everything seems so logical, but when you awake it is hard to remember what you were thinking about
Theta state could be, when you are in bed and just before you sleep, you shake or feel like you have fall down(if somebody experienced that).
Alpha state is when you are awake and relaxed(i can sometimes feel my frequency).

I am not sure about these brainwave states. However, when using my waveryder BioFeedback machine whenever I opened my eyes the Alpha brainwaves stopped as indicated on the computer screen.
As far as Theta, i was not looking for that on the computer. I was trying to determine if when I did Kundalini that my brainwaves went into Delta state (1-3 hertz).
I was unable to find anything out here because the WaveRyder was not very sensitive at the delta wavelengths nand because of the 60 Hertz AC ELECTROSMOG present EVERWHERE.
An ancellary project evolved from a ELF Metglas cored antenna I made up. This 16 inch long 2 inch wide coil was going to be my antenna for ELF and Schumann signal reception but I never finished the receivers. This coil ends up as a BRAIN WAVE COIL.
By attaching a Ten Tech device to the two leads from the coil and "dialing in" the frequency i want I have a device that will transmit actual EM brainwaves into my BRAIN.
The coil has to be EXTREMELY close to my head (frontal lobes) in order for an effect to be noticed. A Magnetic Flux-gate indicator lets me check on wether it is working or not.
I have used this set up on myself at 2 Hertz and I DEFINITELY FELT IT. It did not put me tp sleep or have any defnite effect.
I will try it at the Schumann residence wavelength soon.
