I've read that some things work better when you are a little sleepy or some things or done better as soon as you wake up.... and as a lot of people have been asking recently about how to get someone to dream about you... well first step is you have to make sure the other person is already sleeping.
The problem with being drowsy is how long can you effectively work on what you are trying to accomplish without falling asleep. |

Yeah you can be in alpha or even theta depending on just how drowsy you are. When you're in alpha you're likey to daydream more. When you're in theta you're more likely to hallucinate. Sleep deprivation is not recommended.
While it is mentioned that it's hard to stay awake, it's also harder to concentrate on just one thing when you're drowsy. People fall asleep driving, and that's a life and death situation there, so imagine if you're just trying to meditate and there's nothing life threatening going on, how hard it's going to be to stick to one thought.
You can use binaural beats and visuals to help you get to different states and then program yourself to reach them faster on your own, and that works a lot better than waiting to be drowsy. I find when I meditate when I'm drowsy I tend to dream and not know I'm dreaming, thinking I'm still meditating and then drifting off into sleep. That's just me though.
Good luck in what you're doing. |
