would anyone here know how to create a device to create cymatic patterns could a simple device be made?

What you want is a material that waves can pass through easily, yet move in a way you can see. Sand, water, and oil are all good mediums for this. There are others, but these are simpler.

What I would do (I've never built one, so you may have to get creative) is turn an amplifier on it's back, put a metal plate on top of the "speaker" portion (there's usually a grating in front which can be removed, if need be), and sprinkle some sand on top of the plate. Note that sand and electronics are a bad combination, so be careful not to spill it.

Afterwards, crank up the volume and see what you get. Sketch or photograph any patterns you'd like to keep.

I saw a simple device used at a mystical conference I attended 01/1980 where a glass pane with iron filings were placed on a small table top stand. Then the sacred word, AUMMMMMMM, was pronounced loudly over the pane of glass. The iron filings formed a geometric pattern as the sacred word was spoken. The moderator used this example to prove God's spoken word was used in the creation of matter. I believe the reference book used was Hans Jenny's, Cymantics; however, I've not been able to find this book. Hope this helps.
