I'm new to magic, but mechanics and technology are a hobby of mine. Perhaps I can help?
What you want is a material that waves can pass through easily, yet move in a way you can see. Sand, water, and oil are all good mediums for this. There are others, but these are simpler.
What I would do (I've never built one, so you may have to get creative) is turn an amplifier on it's back, put a metal plate on top of the "speaker" portion (there's usually a grating in front which can be removed, if need be), and sprinkle some sand on top of the plate. Note that sand and electronics are a bad combination, so be careful not to spill it.
Afterwards, crank up the volume and see what you get. Sketch or photograph any patterns you'd like to keep. |
