| How does pendulum dowsing work? Am I supposed to swing it, and while its swinging it will point to a yes/no answer or do I hold the pendulum still and it will move on its own? Also, I made a pendulum out of a standard house key with a piece of thread. Is the key to heavy to do this? |

No, you aren't meant to swing it yourself - that's the whole point of dowsing - spirit, energy or your higher self are meant to be giving you yes or no answers. Sometimes it's a little swing and other times it can be quite strong. If you wait long enough for the momentum to pick up it can swing quite a bit, but there really isn't any need as you can see the answer pretty much straight away. I reckon these people you see doing it on the telly with dramatic powerful swings are doing it themselves.
Basically, you hold it as still as possible while you ask a question and then the pendulum will either start to swing clockwise for yes, and anti-clockwise for no or the other way around for some people. It swings side to side or remains still for "mind your own business" or "not telling".
Ask it something simple like "is my name ........" to find out which way yours will swing for a yes and then chuck in a false name afterwards to ensure the no and make sure it's working.
Do you know, I have no idea whether a housekey will work or not. All you can do is give it a go.
I don't know about anyone else, but I often hear the answers in my head before the pendulum starts to move, but it's good for validation of what I hear. |

| Thanks for the advice Rainbow Aura, I have one more question though. When you ask a question, does it have to be out loud or could I ask one mentally? I dont want anyone at home overhearing me and thinking I've lost my marbles lol. |

Know the feeling - in your head is fine, that's what I do. Just remember to be loud and clear in your head. I often confuse the pendulum when I'm trying to figure out what question to ask and change my mind half way through. |

Let me know how you get on. I'm curious about the 'housekey'.
Many people use crystals, personally I have a brass one so the fact that's it's metalic shouldn't make any difference. It's the 'balance' and weight that counts. |
