|
|
Okay, this topic is about the supposed law of three that so many practicioners of various magicks say is...a law. Now, I'm not going to get all detailed on it, but, in my honest opinion, I think it's just a state of mind.
I honestly do not believe in the law of three, and not once has anything I've ever done, neither harmful or helpful, ever come back to bite me in the arse.
And I do a lot of harmful things, mostly in self-defense. But, truth be told, I have been known to do things just to piss people off, and also to mess with the lives of "humans". I find that as a practicioner of various arts in a modern day world filled with chaos that one needs to occasionally do something that would make them seem like a total douchebag.
I have sent attacks at rival mages, cursed my annoying brother, spied on my former friends, even once (accidentially) hex my mother with the evil eye, and nothing bad has ever happened to me. Not. A. Single. Thing.
And I believe that's because I don't believe in the law of three...
But it could also be because I have a large, almost obscene amount of luck on my side. Eh, I don't care, either way, I won't believe in the good or bad parts of the law of three until someone can prove it to me with one of my actions. And that isn't happening.
...
So, what are everyone else's opinions on this...law...? Does Mystical Wonders have any believers of it? Do discuss, but don't condemn or persecute me. I'm neither good or evil, just chaotic. |

| I'm fairly sure that the three fold law, as well as all the others, are not true. I do believe in karma, as everything in our world needs balance, but I see no reason for the action to be returned with greater intensity. Doing so would throw the scale out of balance again. |

I actually don't believe in karma either. I think what inspired me to believe that are some examples of my past lives, and "Uncle Chuckie". The later is actually the only author of anything paranormal or supernatural (so to speak) that I actually agree with, by the way.
Anyone else? |

I do not believe in the law of three nor karma. Of course, I don't believe in reincarnation anyways, so that kinda kicks karma out. The law of three I think is a good ethical guide, but it is by no means a true law. Simply an extinct superstition made by an almost-extinct race.

The answer is in the question.

Do you believe?

Whatever you BELIEVE will work against you will work against you.
Belief is what really matters. |

It can't be true--if it was, I would be dead several times over.
The so-called "law of three" is just another of those unprovable aphorisms, the basic assumption of which is that no human will behave honorably unless threatened with some sort of punishment. yours in Chaos, Scarlett |

I don't believe in Karma or any form of fate. I believe in human potential, to make or be whatever you choose, without having to rely on any external influences. I believe in me, and I believe in you.
Because of this, I don't believe in the Law of 3; we make our own lives, and must take responsibility for such. |

The question was yes or no. My answer is a strict no.
Law of 3 does not apply. Illusion. |

I suppose it's possible that the "Law of Three" stemmed from a multifold concept, trying to teach someone to use magic responsibly or something. Maybe it was said at some point that effects are x amount stronger than anticipated (i.e. if you hurt a person, you also hurt their family/friends, and then Karma comes back to get you for a grand total having 3 effects from 1 action). This might have been misinterpreted somewhere along the line to become the Law of 3. It's certainly happened before.
Or maybe it's true. Or maybe it was just made up. Whatever. . . |
