To crazysoul - I'm not an expert or anything but from what I have read the answer is yes, most mantras need to be repeated several times in a row with 27, 54, and 108 being the most auspicious and with 108 being the best, the only exception I have come across is nahm myoho renge kyo ( i probably haven't spelt it right) which is supposed to work better if it is repeated for a specific amount of time, which you decide on before starting the chant (and I have had some success with this method, but only when chanting it out loud). As to how you manage count up to 108 whilst chanting without losing count - that's the problem, some sort of rosary bead type thing is the most common advice (but I haven't actually tried this myself yet). |

Crazysoul,
That's why I recorded them. I've read that repeating them in your head is as effective as chanting out loud. But don't quote me on that.
