Ivy - Saturn and water. Guards and protects the houses it grows over. Often given to newlyweds, in conjunction with holly, as a good luck charm.
Jasmine - Jupiter and earth. Used in love spells and charms.
Juniper - Sun and fire. If a sprig of Juniper is worn, it will protect the wearer from accidetns. The berry or hot plants such as thistle, chile peppers and bouganvillea, desert dwelling cacti, coffee beans, and Almond Trg seeds, generally help with visualization. Jupiter has been used to clear uric acid from the body. It is high in natural insulin and has the ability to heal the pancreas where there has been no permanent damage. Useful for all urinary infections and water retention problems. Is used externally as a compress to treat acne, athlete's foot and dandruff.
Kava Kava - Water. A tea of kava kava when drank, offers protection against evil and invites good luck. Sprinkle the tea around the home and property for the same uses. It is used to treat insomnia, nervousness, and stress after an injury. It is also used as a tea for pains associated with nerve and skin diseases. Caution: large doses can cause a buildup of toxic substances in the liver.
Lavendar - Air. Lavendar is used inpurification baths and rituals. Used in healing incenses and sachets. Carrying the herb will enable the carrier to see ghosts. The essential oil will heighten sexual desire in ment. Lavendar water sprinkled on the head is helpful in your chastity. The flowers, when burned, induce sleep and scattered throughtout the home, maintain a peaceful harmony within. Carrying lavendar brings strength and courage. Lavendar tea made from the blossoms is used as an antidepressant. When used in combination with other herbs it is a remedy for depression and nervous tension and stress. It can also be used as a headache remedy.
Lemon Balm - Drink as in infustion to soothe away the emotional pains after a relationship break-up; considered useful in recovery from trauma and sexual assault. It has long been considered to drive away melancholy and low spirits. It is also said to increas fertility and has been used in love potions and aphrodisiacs.
Lemon Verbena - Venus and air. Wear as a love charm and to increase one's attractiveness. Add to charms to increase their power. Hang a spring around your neck to stop you from dreaming.
Linden - Jupiter. Asociated with conjugal love and longevity.
Lovage - Sun and water. Add the root to cleansing baths. Carry to attract love.
Mandrake - Mercury and fire. A powerful protective charm for the home. The root can be carried by women who want to concieve and by men who want to cure impotency. Mandrake is a very strong gland stimulant. It is used to treat skin problems, digestion, and chronic liver diseases. It is most often combined with other herbs, is very powerful and should be used with caution, as well as in very small dosages. Pregnant woment should not use this herb!
Marigold - Sun and fire. In a vase, renews energy of everyone in the room where the vase is placed. Symbolises constancy and endurance in love.
Marjoram - Mercury and air. Add to love charms. Place a bit of the herb in ery room in the house for protection It was used in an anointing ointment for love divination in combination with marigold, thyme, honey and wormwood.
Meadowsweet - Jupiter and water. A sacred herb of the Druids. Arrange fresh meadowsweet n the altar when mixing love charms or performing love spells. Strew around the house for love and peace. Wear garlands of meadowsweet to Lammas to join with the essence of the Goddess.
Mistletoe - Sun and air. Worn as a protective amulet, or to help conceive. Mistletoe was held in great esteem by the Druids, and was reputed to protect the wearer from evil. The old custom of mistletoe being hung at Yule and causing those who stand beneath it to kiss, originates in the legen that the God Baldur was killed with an arrow made of mistletoe; it was afterwards ordained that everyone who passed underneath it, should recieve a kiss in order to demonstrate that the plant now as an emblem of love instead of hatred.
Mugwort - Venus and air. Put into the shoe while travelling, for protection from sunstroke, wild beasts and evil spirits and to prevent fatigue on long journeys. Mugwort tea will induce clairvoyance. Rub fresh leaves on magick mirror and crystal balls to strengthen divinitory powers. Add to scrying, clairvoyance and crystall balls to strengthen divination incenses. It is reputed that putting it under the doorstep, it insures no unwelcome person will enter. A pillow filled with mugwort will induce vivid dreams. Mugwort is used in all conditions dealing with nervousenss, shaking and insomnia. It is also used to help induce menses, especially when combined with cramp bark. Often used to stimulate the liver and as a digestive aid. Fresh juice of the plant treats poison ivy. Pregnant women should not use it.
Mullein - Saturn and fire. Has been called hag's tapers, Jupiter's staff and our lady's candle. Wear to develop courage and as a protection from wild animals. It was believed to have power to drive away evil spirits. Mullein can be used to clear a psychic space after work by washing your tools, floor and altar with a Mullein infusion.The leaves are also carried to prevent animal attacks and accidents when in the wilderness. In a pillow, it will guard against nightmares. Is is used as a substitute for "grave dust" in old spells. It is a terrific narcotic herb that is not addictive or poisonous. It can be used as a painkiller and to help bring on sleep. It loosens mucous which makes it useful in treating lung ailments and helps to strengthen the lymphatic system.
Myrrh - Sun and water. Purifying and protective incense. Can be used to consecrate tools. It is a powerful antiseptic, being a remedy second only to echinacea. It is a strong cleaning and healing agent, soothing the body and speeding the healing process. It is used in mouthwashes, gargles and toothpastes for fighting and preventing gum disease.
Myrtle - Venus and water. Sacred to Venus and used in love charms and spells of all kinds. If grown indoors it brings goodluck. Carry Myrtle leaves to attract love, or the wood to preserve youth. Good to make magick charms from the wood.
Nettle - Mars and fire. Stuff a poppet with nettles to send bad vibrations and curses back to the sender. Sprinkle around the room as protection or add to protection charms. If carried, said to instill courage.
Nutmeg - Jupiter and air. Carry a nutmeg to strengthen clairvoyant power and to prevent rheumatism. |
